Fire Risk Assessment Case Studies

Associated Independent Stores AIS – (Retail and Exhibitions)

Veritas Consulting carried out a fire risk assessment for Associated Independent Stores offices and Exhibition Halls in Solihull, West Midlands. AIS employs around 150 staff and their location is surrounded by a range of commercial businesses. The Fire Risk assessment provided a detailed action plan which AIS put into action in order to control the significant risks from fire as required under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

In addition, we were engaged to undertake; Staff Fire Safety Awareness Training, Fire Marshall Training, Evacuation and Emergency Procedures, all of which were identified as a result of the fire risk assessment.

Study Inn (Student Accommodation)

Study Inn is secure student living accommodation with a number of sites across Coventry in the West Midlands.

Veritas Consulting were asked to review a series of existing fire risk assessments and the associated arrangements for each location to ensure they were providing legally compliant premises across their portfolio.

The building owners were under pressure from The Regulatory Reform Fire safety Order and wanted the assessments completed quickly, the fire risk assessments identified how well they were complying and shortfalls which needed improvements but, overall the risk level was considered low which pleased the owners.

Newbridge (Care Home)

Newbridge Care Home contacted Veritas Consulting to discuss their needs surrounding Fire Safety, Health and Safety training and Risk Assessment. Over the course of several weeks, we discussed their needs, and brought their Health and Safety support up to code, explaining and clarifying legislation to allow them to make informed and in depth decisions surrounding their needs. We also worked with them to ensure that they understood and had clear Fire Safety policies, and reviewed their food safety while updating their policies.

Each of the three elements combined into a real world set of policies that allowed them to create a comprehensive document of support that covered both their clients and staff. Our Fire Safety, health and safety and Risk Assessment training helped them update key policies to reach compliance on their needs, and supported them in designing a new support document for their clients, giving them a new level of quality assurance and updating their care to levels that they could be proud of.
