Health and Safety Training Case Studies

May Gurney – (Construction, Untilities & Infrastructure)

Veritas Consulting delivered Asbestos Awareness Training to 36 field operatives from their Midlands team at the May Gurney office in Birmingham. The training course was delivered in-house over 3 days at the end of October 2010. The course helped supervisors and workers understand how to identify Asbestos materials and what to do when they discover them.

Spring Cleaning Services ( Domestic and Commercial Cleaning Specialists)

Spring Cleaning Services is a full service cleaning company for offices, industrial areas, schools and specialised environments. They specialise in deep cleaning, landscape maintenance and cleaning maintenance so need clear health and safety policies for their staff to follow.

We provided integrated training and support to allow these services to be met with ease, while allowing them to continue with their jobs and contracts. Each element of training is fully designed to meet the industry’s compliance needs, and protect staff and workers. Our team focussed on all elements of their services, internally and externally – ensuring that all supplies, equipment and other items are kept well maintained and used properly, with appropriate safety gear.

We also provided training for a health and safety expert (or competent person) within the business, allowing them to monitor and review Health and Safety compliance, file paperwork and support continued compliance and support within the business. This compliance support will need to be updated regularly, but provides a strong support structure for future work.

Ian Simpson and Associates – (Architects)

Ian Simpson and Associatesrequired CDM person training, which Veritas training provided. We supported their team in designing a project of learning for their CDM training and they joined us in several times to achieve their full training potential.

CDM training is designed to support architects, construction workers and more in reaching compliance through intensive half day training at the site of their choice. This critical training was designed to ensure that they meet and exceed their training needs with ease.

We base our training on CDM regulations 2007, along with the various needs and support roles that CDM provides. One of the major elements of CDM compliance is the roles and responsibilities of dutyholders and our training is designed to ensure that the concepts and roles and regulations are understood and work with the needs of the company.

After this intensive training course, we stayed in touch with the company, providing consultation as needed to fully support the CDM role.
